POLAROIDS FOR
MODERN PROSE

Jack Kerouac is labeled the chronicler of the beat generation and his style of spontaneous prose is highly regarded in the realm of literature. And his legacy denied only by few. In the 1950s Allen Ginsberg, another prominent figure of the time, asked Kerouac to define this literary style. The guide he provided was as obscure and unpredictable as his works. In the book “You are a Genius all the Time: Belief and Technique for Modern Prose” he outlines 30 essential guides for writers. They have become commonly known as Kerouac’s 30 rules for writing.

Working with this list of rules Damyan Doumanov and Jahan Saber took 30 Polaroids to serve as an interpretation of these in a photographic sense.
